Day totals for CES 6 and RB2 2 which took place on Thursday June the 26th are below:
JR and VAK were in the garden doing CES 6 and JR commented as follows:
There was a rarity in the garden a House sparrow retrap ( maybe from Andrews garden?), we are starting to get quite a few juveniles now, and the weather conditions were good, overcast and calm for most of the day, but there was a slight disturbance in the garden with the gardener mowing the lawn under the nets! No time for birdwatching today as plenty of birds to ring, but we did manage to clear lots of brambles in the net lanes.
JL was in Reedbed 2 and added the following:
It was a bit quiet in rb2, with only one juv Reewa, although other juvs boosted the catch - a handful Blaca, a couple of Reebu, plus Garwa and Redst. The highlight of the day was the Whitethroat capture in the CES, the male (ringed at a previous CES session by Carlton here) was caught quite early on, and was quickly followed by the female and four juvs. Its not a common species at the Lake, and six ringed for the year equals our highest ever year catch (back in the mid 1990's), and five for the day is a new "day max".
