First tape session at RB2 (visit 9)

Following a report of an Aquatic Warbler in Devon (over the weekend), Jerry was back in rb2 on Tues 29 July, with a tape playing from first light. The early mist was soon burnt off, and the rest of the morning was the usual sunshine. Only 20 +(6) birds were caught, and the "target species" wasn't amongst them, but the tape seemed to reverse the proportion of Reed to Sedge Warbler. Two (or three) Water Rail were close to the boardwalk, with one spending a lot of time in the ditch/old harbour at the start of the boardwalk, a Water Vole seemed to be chasing it, before it took flight in a long arc to end in the top panel of the middle net - tidy. A quick trip back to the hut to ring, and being a large male, a D ring would have been too tight, so an Eo fitted. The catch comprised Watra 1, Wren 1, Robin 1, Wilwa 1, Chiff 2, Blaca (1), Reewa 6 + (5) and Sedwa 8.

Aged as an adult from the bright red eye, lack of 
buff lores, clean slatey grey underparts with only minimal amount of 

white on the "chin", sexed on size.
