2014 RB2 - 3

On the 2nd of July, Jerry and Sophie-lee (new recruit) did a third session in rb2, and had a modest 14 + (5) - the sunny conditions resulting in few birds being caught after 08.30.

The catch was made up of 1 Robin, (1) Blabi, 7 + (2) Reewa - all of the new birds were juveniles, 1 Garwa, 2 + (1) Blaca, 3 + (1) Reebu.

An early finish (09.45) was necessary for Jerry to attend a meeting with BBNP/NRW & Andy, to talk about management of the meadows, the main priorities (affecting our interests) would be continued removal of scrub willow from the reed bed, and earlier cutting/grazing of the point field to encourage a shorter/more open grassland for nesting waders (Lapwing).

After the meeting a brood of 4 Swall was ringed in Andy's garden shed. Our year total at the end of June stands at 600 birds ringed.
