CES 1

Gareth completed the first CES session of the year on 01 May. Conditions were wet to start with occasional drizzle throughout the first half of the morning. The weather didn't appear the affect the catch, with a total of 16 new and (22) retraps processed. These included:

Andy joined mid-morning to repair cow damage to the gate and fence at GN7. As well as a cow apparently gaining access through this gate, it appeared that a calf had also entered the scrub from the feeder end by lifting the feeder gate off its hinges. A well placed nail should prevent this happening again.

Further damage occurred during the CES, with a cow managing to get into one of the kissing gate "boxes" and snap all four stakes, which had started to rot at ground level (timber treatment isn't very effective these days).
On Saturday, Jeremy, Ron and Jerry returned to build a new box, and replaced the hanging post at the same time.
