Final Session of the Year

Sunday 29th had the last decent forecast (before further low pressure systems swept across the country), up to the year's end, so Andy and Jerry tried for a final catch.  

The water level was still high, and with at least three Water Rail calling from the back ditch/small gate area (including one swimming near the nyger feeder), three traps were put out - without success.  A net at the sunflower, however, produced a catch of 7 + (11) made up of 

(1) Robin, 

2 + (7) Bluti, 

(1) Coati, 

1 Greti, 

1 + (1) Chaff, 

3 + (1) Grefi (another 3 had to be released unringed when the B rings ran out !!).  

The year total ended on 2161, our eight highest, well above our long term average (1710), but below that for the last ten years (2290).
