Three "half century" catches

Jeremy did CES 8 on Friday 19th July, it was another hot day (29 deg later in the session), needing more regular net rounds than the norm.  The watering points were topped up - which is likely to benefit both the birds and our catching.  He had 29 birds by 0930, with those nets that still had a bit of shade on them doing the best.  There were good numbers of juvenile Blackcap about and some males still singing.  Highlight was the 3JJ Cettis Warbler, and he was a bit too busy to do some birding and see the Osprey that visited the Lake at 10.30 (see Brecknock Birds site).

The total catch was the highest CES of this year at 51 birds (43 new and (8) retraps), made up of - Bullfinch 2,  Robin 2,  Dunnock 3 ( 2 ) , Blackcap 11 ( 2 ),  Wren 2,  Reed Warb 1,  CETTIS WARB 1,   Garden Warb 2,  Chiffchaff 4,  Blue Tit 7 ( 1 ),  Blackbird 4  ( 1 ),  Song Thrush 1,  Great Tit 2 ( 1 ),  Long t tit 1 ( 1 ).

JR's Cettis (19/07/13)

On Sat 20th Jerry had an early start in rb2, and was later joined by Amy and Andrew (who has at last decided he wants to formally train).  Cloud cover came in at about 08.30, and conditions were much better for catching after the last couple of weeks, although a bit of a breeze picked up later in the morning.  It was only a "relatively" chilly 20 deg by mid day.  Catching was good, considering only the long boardwalk was used, with reasonable numbers of 3J Reewa for the first time this year.

Day total of 36 + (12), made up of (1) Robin, 1 Redst, 1 Dunno, 1 Cetwa (another 3JJ), 2 + (1) Sedwa, 24 + (7) Reewa, 3 Blaca, 1 Bluti, 1 Treec, (1) Chaff, 2 + (2) Reebu

JR's Cettis (19/07/13)

On Sun 21st, Jerry returned to the garden for CES extra visit D.  He was joined by Stephanie Tyler and Daniel Webb - as Steph was needing the formal peer assessment for her trainer licence.   Another good catch of 37 +(13), cloud cover prevailed for most of the session, though there was a strong breeze at times.

Catch made up of 1 + (3) Wren, 6 + (3) Chiff, 1 Treec, 1 Lotti, 4 Robin, 1 + (1) Dunno, 10 Blaca, 2 Garwa, 1 Sedwa, 1 Reewa, 8 + (2) Bluti, (1) Greti, 1 + (2) Bullf, (1) Blabi.
