2017 - CES 4

CES 4 was undertaken by George on Saturday the 3rd of June, ably assisted by Carlton’s daughter Elinor. The weather was fine throughout the morning with little wind, the sun was shining which may have affected the catch later during the 2nd half of the session.

Plenty of the usual species were making their presence known, Blackcap, Garden Warbler, Goldcrest, Cuckoo, Long Tailed Tit's, Gold & Bullfinches calling.
A Wren's nest was found and it's no doubt worth checking the Spot Fly boxes and usual nesting places next visit. The Geese were assembled on the point ( quite a few sporting rings ! ). There were also many Sand Martins feeding and a Pair of Lapwing very busy defending either eggs or more likely young – although none were seen.

CES produced Blackbird x 4 , Wren x 2, Robin x 2, Dunnock x 1 ( 2 ), Chiffchaff x 3 ( 2 ), Adult Blue Tit (!) x 1 , Great Spotted Woodpecker x 1, Spotted Flycatcher x 1 , A new female Bullfinch, Female Cettis (1) & Retrap Garden Warbler (1)
Total 16 and 6 Retraps.

After the CES they made their way to Cathedine Nestboxes – 14 in total – all were checked and three broods were ringed ( Pied Flycatcher x 6 , Blue Tit x 5 and Redstart x 7 ).
