Two more Jetty Sessions (6 & 7)

Jerry was back at the jetty on Tues 5th and Wed 6th (latter date with Andy), but it was slower catching than on Jeremy's visit. On 5th, it stated to rain as he arrived (not forecast), and continued on/off throughout the morning. Being at the jetty, it was possible to continue in the rain, ringing under the tailgate, and sheltering under the bird hide. On the 6th, the heavy overnight rain had cleared by the early hours, and conditions were much improved (though a little breezy). The main reason for reduced catches (on both visits) however, was probably that the tape (Aquatic/Sedge/Grasshopper) was not playing until 05.00, and the main reduction was in the proportion of Sedge Warbler. On 5th, a total of just 15 + (6) birds, and on 6th, a better 28 + (5). The species make up was (2) Wren, 1 Redst, 26 + (6) Reewa, 11 Sedwa, 1 Wilwa, 4 Chiff and (3) Bluti.

A young female Redstart, near completion of its post juvenile moult.
