November week 3, and recent recoveries

Sunday 19 November was forecast to be calm, so Jerry decided it was a good opportunity to do some net repairing, and while doing it, he put up a net near the apples for a couple of hours.  The catch of 8 + (12) comprised Robin (1) - entered the ringing hut, Blackbird 4, Blue Tit (10), Great Tit (1), Siskin 1 and Chaffinch 3.

Several bands of rain then crossed the country (though generally not as heavy as forecast), and the accompanying wind mainly prevented further ringing activity.  Conditions improved at the end of the week, so short afternoon/roost sessions were possible on Thursday 23rd (Jerry & Andy) and Friday 24th (Andy). Catches were 6 + (7) and 9 + (10) respectively.

The weather on Sunday 26th was cold, but calm, so Jeremy took the opportunity for a couple of hours net mending in the morning. Jerry was there in the afternoon (fenceline clearing), and put up the scrub nets for a catch of 11 + (3).  Along with the eight Lesser Redpoll he caught, was another pale bird, that he recorded as Redpoll sp, and as he finished before roost time, he avoided the tits (moving away from the feeders, through the scrub to roost), that were well represented in Andy's catch.

Summary of the "tape" sessions - Wren 1 + (1), Robin (1), Dunnock (1), Goldcrest 1 +(4), Blue Tit (7), Marsh Tit (2), Great Tit 1,  Long-tailed Tit 1 + (2), Siskin 3, Lesser Redpoll 15, Redpoll sp 1, Bullfinch 2 + (2) and Reed Bunting 1.
