RAS sessions at the jetty and rb2

On Thurs 29 May, Jerry tried the jetty, and it was a bit quiet - the reeds were very wet (from the previous day's rain) and few birds were moving. The total of 20 + (6) was boosted by a few Reed Bunting (incl one ringed as a young bird in the garden in Sept '16 - still looks like "Lake" birds are in the minority at the winter bird crops), and some Sand Martin (he would have caught more if a tape had been playing). Three retrap Reed Warbler were caught, but only one was eligible for the RAS, as the other two had been caught on a previous visit.

On Sat 1 July, Jerry was in rb2 for another RAS session, and although it was a bit breezy, he had a respectable catch of 36 + (9). Reed Warblers were in short supply, though another retrap counted towards the RAS. A decent number of Blue Tit were caught - who'd have thought Jerry would be appreciative of them having had a good breeding season. There was also a bit of "quality" in the catch, with a juvenile Redstart, a young Whitethroat, and a pair of Spotted Flycatcher - can't remember the last time this species was caught in rb2.

The combined species mix was - Sand Martin 6, Robin 4, Redstart 1, Cettis Warbler 1, Chiffchaff 4 + (1), Reed Warbler 11 + (7), Blackcap 4, Whitethroat 1, Spotted Flycatcher 2, Blue Tit 16+ (5), Treecreeper 1, Reed Bunting 5 + (2).
