On Thurs 16 Feb, Alan L and Ron thought it was time to try for Woodcock
again (at Upper Pendre, Llangorse). Although they sighted eight birds,
none sat long enough to be netted by the time they packed up at
midnight.
On Friday 17, there was enough help to try the bird crop again, and Peter, Elinor and Jerry (later joined by Andy) had the nets set up by 10 o clock. The ringing base was re-located to the bottom gate, to try and make moving the birds easier, but it probably didn't really make a lot of difference. Overall numbers were lower than in January, with only about 75 Yellowhammer, but with increased numbers (c50) of Reed Bunting. Catching was steady, but with no large catch, the session ended on 36 + (4), made up of Wren 1, Robin (1), Dunnock 3 + (1), Reed Bunting 14 + (2) and Yellowhammer 18.
