RAS sessions at the jetty and rb2

Alan L tried a roost at the jetty on Friday 1st July, but it was windy and none of the several hundred Sand Martin could be attracted to the nets.  He caught just three birds.
The following morning, Jerry reset the nets, but it was still windy.  In a short session he caught 8 + (3) birds.
On Sunday, he was in rb2 (with Andy) in much better conditions, for a reasonable catch of 18 + (7).  There were the first few juvenile Reed Warblers (at both sites) for the year, but only one of the adult recaptures contributed to our RAS.  Combined species mix was:
1 Wren,
1 Robin,
2 Willow Warbler,
1 Garden Warbler,
6 Blackcap,
14 + (9) Reed Warbler,
2 + (1) Long-tailed Tit and
2 Reed Bunting.
Interesting sightings included a young Water Rail (calling close to the boardwalk), and a Hornet (which flew past the rb2 ringing table).
