CES 6

Thurs 30th June saw a break in the weather, so Jerry took the opportunity to complete CES visit 6.  It was quiet (the quietest session this year), with very few juveniles about - maybe its not just Reed Warblers that have had a poor breeding season.  It also didn't help that the top panel of three nets couldn't be fully extended, because of overhanging branches that needed to be pruned.  

The session ended on 11 + (8), comprising:

(1) Wren, 

2 + (1) Robin, 

1 Redstart, 

(1) Dunnock, 

(1) Blackbird, 

2 + (1) Blackcap, 

(1) Cettis Warbler, 

5 + (2) Chiffchaff and 

1 Treecreeper.  

The last round produced the "quality" with the Redstart, and a Hornet in GN1.  Our June total is 367, and our YTD 799.  Compared to the last four years, the June total is our third lowest (range 296 - 463), but the YTD is our second highest (due to our high Jan & Feb catches), just behind 866 in 2015.
