2015 - CES 4

CES 4 was completed on Sunday the 7th of June in great weather by Ron and George who commented that it was Llangorse at it's best! Totals were as follows:

Species CES Totals
Wilwa 1 (2)
Chiff (3)
Coati 1
Lotti 4
Treec 2
Robin 2 (1)
Blaca 1 (1)
Sedwa 1 (3)
Dunno (2)
Nutha (1)
Jay 1
Totals 13 (13)

Bird of the day was the adult Jay, not often we catch Jay's at the lake, in fact this is only the 17th individual in 37 years ringing at the site. A brief scan of historic bulletins might suggests that another may be on it's way. With 2 caught in each of 2011, 2010, 2008, 2007. Although further more detailed analysis of the ringing data may show that the majority of the above records were caught on the same day.

First Jay since 2012 but the 10th in the last 9 years. With only 7 previous records.

I think we would all love to know what they are both looking?
There were also broods of Piefl and Bluti ringrd at Cathedine with another brood of Piefl still to do at that site - they will be ready next week end if anyone can get to them.

Sadly the Spofl on the house has lost her eggs but there is a new nest in a SF2 nest box near the Greenhouse in the garden, no eggs yet though.

Alan has done some some great work again today - Strimming all the net lanes and planting some trees. An interesting mammalian sighting was a Hedgehog crossing the lane in front of George's car at 5.25am.

More interesting Mammals.
