Recent Recovery and "Rarity" news

The Greenfinch (TV65825) that we caught at the Lake on 20th November 2014, had been ringed at Oxwich Marsh, Swansea, on 20 July (74Km, 123 days).

The Common/Mealy Redpoll that we ringed in Oct 2013 (and featured on the cover of Bulletin 36) has eventually been accepted by the WOS Records Panel.

Now that they are able to assess Redpoll records, its probably time to submit a description for the bird we caught in Feb 2014 (an even better example, which featured in Bulletin 37).

Recent work in the USA, however, suggests it may only be a matter of time before the various Redpoll species are once more lumped together. For more details click here and here.
