March ends

Andy and Jerry tried for a third session at the wild bird crop on 25th, but numbers were much depleted. A maximum of about 20 Yellowhammer, five Skylark, and only a single Reed Bunting were seen. The catch comprised just 2 Yellowhammer from the earlier sessions. The two successful catches, at the bird crop, boosted our YTD ringing total to 258 - by far our highest ever for the first three months. Totals for the last three years being more typical - 130 in 2012, 133 in 2013 and 93 in 2014.
