Boxes update

On Thurs 28th May, Jerry made a return visit to ring more nestbox pulli. In total, broods of Nuthatch (1), Great Tit (1), Blue Tit (4) and Redstart (2) were ringed. The single adult, and 11 pulli Redstart that were ringed, was only one short of the Group's max day total. Unfortunately one brood of Redstart had died, the box had been inspected by someone else since Jerry's previous visit (wire catches were not properly secured) - which may just be a coincidence. Of greater concern was that someone (else) had wandered through our netting area, and had not secured some of the gates. A cow had managed to gain access, fortunately, the damage was only superficial, but it could have been much worse.
