December - week two

Most of the week was dominated by wet and windy weather, with only Jerry managing to visit. On Mon 8th, he opened 4-7 for a short while (mainly to dry off the nets before putting them away) and caught just (1) Greti and 2 Siski. Perfect conditions on Sat 13th (after a hard overnight frost), saw him put a net at our sunflower feeder. Catching was fairly quiet, with many fewer birds than at the Pennorth feeders - probably because our feeder is regularly emptied. He had a final tally of 8 + (22), made up of (2) Robin, (2) Coati, 1 + (13) Bluti, 1 + (4) Greti, 2 Chaff, 3 + (1) Grefi and 1 Housp. As with recent catches, there were less than a handful of "first years" amongst the tits. The slow catching allowed him time to look over the year's totals, and the two House Sparrow caught on 4th Dec surpassed the previous year max of 33.
