Blackcap visits 4, 5 and 6

Blackcap visits were undertaken on three morning's last week, on the 10th 12th and 13th of September. JR undertook the first and third visits, had the tapes on early and nets up by 0540. The conditions were good; calm, dry and overcast. Perfect netting conditions. The summary for JR's two visits was as follows:

10/09/14 - Total 33, 26 new 7 retraps:  including 9 Blaca and a really good catch of 10 ( 3 ) Goldc, Chiff 2

13/09/14 - Total 35, 27 New 8 Retraps: including 11 Chiff, 9 Blaca.

The Goldcrest numbers on the 10th were approaching the day max we have for the species in the last 30 years and interestingly this coincided with falls of the species at coastal sites like Skokholm.

GMA visited on the 12/09/14 and had a reduced catch due to tape problems but did have a nice Great Spotted Woodpecker.

It was noted that Meapi numbers have started to build in the point field now, with 10 already there, if the weather remains fair and dry a decent catch may well be possible.
