Habitat Management and Feeder catching

The first few months of the year are usually the time for us to undertake habitat management, but as much of our netting area was underwater during Feb, the work has been delayed. With the flood now rescinded, and the weather improved, the opportunity to put up a net (after a couple of hours of scrub cutting) is usually too great to resist.

On the 2nd, Gareth and Jerry tried at the sunflower feeder, but the wind picked up and they finished after just 3 birds - 1 + (1) Greti and (1) Dunno. On the 5th, Jerry tried at the nyger feeder, and had a very similar catch to 22 Feb. In total 19 + (14) made up of 13 + (12) Lesre, 4 + (1) Siski, 1 Goldf, 1 Grefi, (1) Nutha. Most of the retrapped birds were from the 22nd, and Jerry packed up when the catch comprised mainly same day recaptures.
