Final "Sunflower" Session

On Tues 11 March, Andy and Jerry (after a stint of pollarding/hedging), put up a net at the sunflower feeder for a couple of hours. The catch was just 7 + (11), and it looks like most of the "tits" have dispersed back to their breeding territories, with this fine spring weather. The same situation seems to have happened at Newport Wetland Reserve, where a session on Sun 9th, also had relatively few "tits" - the bulk of the 90+ birds caught being Grefi and Goldf. At the Lake, the species makeup was (1) Robin, 2 + (4) Bluti, 1 + (3) Greti, 1 Marti, 1 + (1) Chaff (bird ringed in 2011 and ring removed as legs were scaling), and 2 + (2) Grefi.
