Chris Wells has reported a further (substantial) number of Canada Geese rings at Brockhall Quarry, between 21st August and 3rd September. A total of 80 individuals (88 sightings), with birds ringed in 2006 (1), 2007 (1), 2009 (2), 2010 (1), 2013 (4), 2014 (6), 2015 (7), 2016 (14), 2017 (14), 2018 (12) and 2019 (18). A Greylag Goose (ringed 2017) has also been seen 3 times. Chris says that the water levels have congregated the birds on a "beach" where their rings can be "easily" read (in early August there were in excess of 700 geese on site). He has also read the rings of two Canada Geese which were ringed with "Radipole rings" at the 2017 roundup (by Terry Coombs when we ran out of LRGp rings).
AVJ3075 - Reed Bunting (adult male) was ringed at Budleigh Salterton, Devon on 10th November 2019. It was caught in rb2 (Jerry) on 24th July 2020 - 257 days, 143 km, 2 degrees. Maybe a bird returning to the Lake after wintering in Devon. The lack of Reed Bunting in the reed beds, this year, has been noticeable.
