Our 1st Yellowhammer, and local Song Thrush recoveries

We've just heard that one of our Yellowhammers has been found dead, having flown into a window. Although the movement isn't very great (about 100m), it is our first Yellowhammer recovery, and is also a new longevity record for us. The 1st year female was ringed by Elinor/Carlton at the Llangorse bird crop on 11 February 2016, she has not been re-caught during subsequent winter bird crop ringing, and was found by Mike Featherstone on 8 April 2020 - 1518 days (over a year longer than our previous longevity). The name will be familiar to some of our longer serving members, as he is the father of Dave "Frank" Featherstone, who ringed with the Group back in 1989 - 1994, when still in school/college.

Song Thrush RL67297 was ringed by Peter, as a juvenile, on CES visit 12 (25 August 2019), and was found freshly dead at Llangasty on 15 April (about 1 km away) - 234 days.
