Tuesday 17 July - "extra" CES, and Blackcap recovery

Following Carlton's excellent CES catch, Andy and Jerry tried another session in the garden - allowing sufficient time lapse for it to be counted as an extra, or main, visit (depending on how Jeremy fares next week). The catch was not as productive as Carlton's (some sun during the first half), but still a respectable 25 + (12), with juvenile Blackcap again making up just over a third of the total. Details - Wren (1), Robin 2, Blackbird 1 + (2), Sing Thrush 2, Dunnock 1, Cettis Warber 1 (another 3JJ from presumably the same brood as the two previous birds), Blackcap 13 + (4), Willow Warbler 1, Chiffchaff 1, Reed Warbler (3), Sedge Warbler 1, Blue Tit (1) (still 3JJ and mover from rb2), Long-tailed Tit 1 and Bullfinch 1 + (1).

On 10th July, Andy was given a ringed Blackcap (road casualty found alive, but soon died), that had been found at the Newydd Farm, Llangasty. It had been ringed as a young male, on 8th November 2016, at Pantano de Vinuela Periana, Malaga, Spain - 1666 km, 609 days, 2 degrees.
