All change for September

On Saturday 2nd, Jerry had a final session in rb2, it was cold and misty (not clearing until 09.30), so the catch of 28 + (6) was more than expected.  Species mix was Wren 1, Redstart 1 (the first for several weeks), Dunnock (1), Chiffchaff 8 + (3), Willow Warbler 1, Blackcap 1, Reed Warbler 10 + (1), Sedge Warbler 3 + (1), Blue Tit 1, Great Tit 1 and Reed Bunting 1.  Ron & Andy arrived later in the morning and they had a good couple of hours cutting willows (along one side of the boardwalk), intending to improve catching conditions next year.  It is still quite dry in the reed bed, so another cutting session may be possible next weekend.  Ringing inrb2 has now finished, until next June's RAS visits start.  Alan L arrived at mid day to strim around the hut/paths/net lanes, and our "garden" side is now looking good, ready for Blackcap taping.  He then worked on the lighting/batteries so we are ready for playback, and the dark mornings/evenings at the hut.

On Monday 4th, it was very foggy, so Jerry and Andy had a late start (09.00), using just GN4-7 for our first playback session for Blackcap and Chiffchaff.  The catch of 15 + (9) was made up of Robin (1), Dunnock 1 + (1), Blackbird (1), Chiffchaff 7 + (2), Blackcap 7 + (3) and Great Tit (1).
