A quiet start for Blackcap

With unsettled weather, ringing opportunities were a bit limited in early September, but Jerry managed to fit in three visits over the full moon period, hoping for good catches.  On Wednesday 6th, he only had time for a short session (as he had to be back in Aber for 11).  The first round looked promising, but it then got quiet, to end on just 20 + (1).  On Saturday 9th, he was joined by Willow, for an even shorter session (as the rain that was forecast for 8, arrived about 9.30), and a low catch of 12 + (5).  On Sunday 10th, another quiet session totaling just 14 birds (though they were all new).  On a positive note, Chiffchaff continue to be moving through, and our year total is now approaching 200, which will be our 2nd highest (though some way short of the top year - 308 in 2010).

Robin 1 + (1), Dunnock 3, Blackbird (1), Chiffchaff 12 + (2), Willow Warbler 1, Blackcap 19, Blue Tit 1 + (1), Great Tit 1, Treecreeper 1, Chaffinch 1 and Bullfinch 6 + (1).
