Two Feeder Sessions

On Sat 26th November, Gareth and Carola had about 4 hours with gn3 and
gn3a (netting both the sunflower and nyger feeders). The feeders are
close to our CES/autumn taping site, so as expected, there was a high
proportion of retraps, and their session ended on 12 + (33).

On Monday 28th, Andy and Jerry had 2 hours at the Pennorth feeders, and
although they had a similar number of captures, there was a much lower
proportion of retraps (as one would expect from a site that is only
occasionally netted through the winter). Their session ended on 32 +
(4), and included 14 new Blue Tits, almost all adults. The catch also
included our "long lived" Great-spotted Woodpecker (CT93116). It is now
10 years, 7 months and 19 days since she was ringed (as an adult in
April 2006), and she is now only about 6 months short of the UK
longevity record. We have re-caught her only nine times - 2007 (2),
2008, 2011, 2014 (2), 2015 (2) and the current record - usually at our
CES/feeder site, but occasionally at the Pennorth feeders.

Chaffinch 7 + (1), Siskin 2 + (1) and House Sparrow 4.
