Recent Canada Goose and Lesser Redpoll recoveries.

Cango 5252697 was ringed at the Lake (on our annual roundup), on 02/07/2006, and was caught (when moulting), at Lake Windemere on 28/06/2014. It had a red colour ring fitted - RW(BANV) and has now been re-sighted at a sand/gravel pit Nr Wellington, Hereford on 14/02/2016. 44 km, ENE, 9y 227d. This is the general area where most of our recoveries came from about ten years ago, but records has reduced in recent years - whether this is due to the geese relocating elsewhere, or a reduction in shooting (most of the recoveries were a result of shooting), is not known.

Lesre Y347482 was ringed on 23/02/2013 (as a 6M), the ring was read (presumably from photos when visiting garden feeders) in Thornhill, Cardiff on 18/02/2016. At almost three years, this is a new longevity record for our Redpoll ringing. Recovery details - 43 km, 174 degrees, 1090 days.
