Our reed bed ringing, particularly in rb2, has produced a number of controls (birds ringed and re-caught at different locations) which sometimes suggest directions of post breeding dispersal, or main migration routes.
Reed Warbler ATD4822 was ringed as a young bird on 11th August 2021 at Keyhaven, Hampshire, and was caught on 17th June 2023 at the jetty - 673 days, 179 km, 319 degrees. This female was also caught on 26th July 2022, and appears to be breeding at the Lake.
Reed Warbler AVV1882 was ringed as a young bird in rb2 on 6th August 2023, and was caught on 21st at Icklesham, East Sussex - 15 days, 294 km, 113 degrees (a site were over 10 other "Lake" Reed Warblers, as well as lesser numbers of Sedge Warbler, Blackcap, Garden Warbler and Chiffchaff have been caught).
Reed Warbler BHA0320 was ringed as juvenile bird on 22nd June 2023 at Brandon Marsh, and was caught in rb2 on 21st July - 29 days, 134 km, 249 degrees (aged as an adult F with brood patch).
Reed Warbler FRP 8530573 was ringed as a young bird on 3rd August 2022 at Cabanot, Audenge, Gironde, FRANCE, and was caught on 21st June 2023 in rb2 - 322 days, 823 km, 349 degrees.
We have just received details of another bird caught some 4 years ago. Reed Warbler FRP 8194340 was ringed as a young bird on 4th September 2018 at Chenal, Chenac-Sainte-d'Uzet, Charente-Maritime, FRANCE, and was caught on 21st July 2019 at the jetty - 320 days, 735 km, 346 degrees.
Sedge Warbler AYV7409 was ringed as a young bird on 4th August 2022 at Litlington, E Sussex, and was caught on 7th July 2023 in rb2 (07.00) - 368days, 268 km, 299 degrees.
Sedge Warbler AHV3403 was ringed as a young bird on 28th August 2022 at Teifi Marshes, Ceredigion, and was also caught on 7th July 2023 in rb2 (10.50) - 344 days, 97 km, 100 degrees.
Despite not having a Canada Geese roundup for three years, we continue to get regular reports - 5275866 was ringed as an adult on 26th June 2016, and was shot on 2nd September at Clehonger, Herefordshire - 2624 days, 33 km, 71 degrees.
