Breeding Season CES 1

Gareth and young prodigy, Hadyn, opened the breeding season CES on 01 May in excellent weather conditions (calm, dry and overcast). Jerry joined to assist mid-morning.

The session resulted in the 8th highest catch in some 40 years of CED at the lake (the 7th highest in the last 10 years) with a total of 21 ringed and 19 retraps.

The inclusion of a whitethroat was the highlight. This species has not been ringed annually during the group’s history (generally only 1 or 2 per year) although more regular in recent years (with 30 in the last 10 years). Whitethroat are typically caught in autumn following beeeding at the nearby Caeau Ty Mawr meadows.
