George and Ron did their "visit" on Thursday 3rd June. Having to leave Bristol at 04.30, they had a "difficult" start with gn4 and 5 in the wrong bags - may not sound too important, but as these nets are
different lengths they don't fit in other net lane. Worse was to follow, with gn7 in a massive tangle, and a 2m tear in the bottom panel. The session was finally started a half hour later than usual, to run 06.30 - 12.30. The catch was our third lowest for this session in the last 10 years (lower catches were 15 in 2018 and 20 in 2012). Probably reduced by sun on the nets, the session ended on just 5 + (15) - made up of Song Thrush 1, Blackbird (2), Dunnock (3), Willow Warbler (2), Chiffchaff (1), Garden Warbler (1), Blackcap (2), Reed Warbler 1 + (1), Goldcrest (1), Treecreeper 1, Bullfinch 2 + (1) and Greenfinch (1).

Three more broods were ready in the nest boxes - Pied Flycatcher 4p + (1) adult, Blue Tit 7p and Great Tit 5p. The day total was 5 + (16) adult birds and 16 pulli. In the afternoon, Alan L strimmed the net lanes and made further improvements to our solar power battery system. On the next day Jerry raked the net lanes, ready for CES 5, and repaired the net.
