Early in the new year, Andy was given a load of rings, from birds that had been shot (at rb3) by the Caerphilly Gun Club. They were only able to provide a vague date of "the recent shooting seasons" = (Sept 2018 - Mar 2019 or Sept - Dec 2019). Many of the birds had not been caught at our recent roundups, so it is possible that some may have been shot earlier than this.

Three geese were shot on 2nd January - 5275739 (ringed 28.06 15 and caught 2016), and 5233961/5233968 (both ringed 25.06.17). Another goose - 5287919 (ringed 30.06.19) was probably also shot on 2nd (but not killed), and was found dead (partly eaten) on 9th January.
Two more fortunate birds, have had their rings read at Cwmbran Boating Lake. Both 5287756 and 5287933 were ringed on 30 June 2019, and had their rings read on 18 November 2019 - 141 days, 38 km, 153 degrees.
