A new species day max!

During the start of the second week of September, more spells of windy weather crossing the country, and although this limited ringing opportunities, individual flexibility achieved reasonable coverage in the scrub area. On Tuesday 10th, Jerry had much better conditions than during his previous visit, but the catch was only 13 + (1) - the majority were Blackcap/Chiffchaff, so could have been worse. Jeremy was there on Thursday 12th, and had a reasonable start catching Blackcap, and later Goldcrest. Jerry joined him late morning (to repair a style damaged by the cows), and because Goldcrest were responding well to the tape (earlier than usual), he stayed on until early afternoon. The session produced 44 + (0), including a new day maximum of 19 Goldcrest (just one more than the catch on 18 Sept 2017).

The weather then became more settled, and Andy was there on Friday 13th, and despite limited playback, had a decent catch of 22 + (1). On Sunday 15th, it was George's turn to run the garden nets (while Andy, Jeremy and Jerry were cutting willows in rb2), and after a promising start (with Blackcap), it quietened to end the session on 22 + (3).

Species mix for the four sessions - Wren 2, Robin 6 + (2), Dunnock 1 + (1), Blackcap 37, Chiffchaff 19, Goldcrest 29 + (2), Blue Tit 4, Treecreeper 1 and Bullfinch 2.
