Most of January was too windy to try the bird crops (as the fields are quite exposed), and most of Jerry's visits were spent managing our CES area. But Thursday 11th was calm, so Alan L, Tony, Elinor and Jerry tried the Llangorse bird crop. The c200 sized flock was made up of about 30 House Sparrow, and equal numbers of Chaffinch and Yellowhammer. It took a while to move the birds into the right part of the crop, and they only had one decent catch (plus some small catches afterwards). Four hours later they ended on 45 + (6), comprising Wren 3, Robin 1 + (2), Dunnock 2, Blue Tit 2, House Sparrow 7 + (2), Chaffinch 13, Reed Bunting 1 and Yellowhammer 16 + (2).
On Friday 26th, after a morning's "dead hedging", Andy put a net up at his garden feeders, for a catch of 25 + (2) - suggesting a good turn over of birds since his last catch. The mix was Great-spotted Woodpecker 1, Blue Tit 16 + (2), Coal Tit 2, Great Tit 1, House Sparrow 2, Chaffinch 2 and Goldfinch 1.

Canada Goose 5272613, ringed Bowness on Windermere, Cumbria July 2013 (before they started colour ringing) and caught at our 2017 roundup. 274 km, 1454 day
Canada Goose 5233871, ringed June 2017 at the Lake, and found dead at Uskmouth, Newport on 1 January 2018. 48 km, 190 days
Sedge Warbler S277560, ringed South Milton, Devon on 10 August 2017, and caught in rb2 on 28 August. 188 km, 18 days
Sedge Warbler S931604, ringed in rb2 on 1 August, and caught at Seine-Maritime, France on 9 August. 370 km, 8 days (another Sedge Warbler, which we ringed on the same day, was caught in Hampshire 7 days later).
Reed Bunting Z238629, ringed at New Passage, S Gloucestershire on 13 December 2014, was caught at the Llangorse bird crop on 17 February 2017. 58 km, 797 days
