CES 12

Peter undertook CES 12 last Friday (25th). He had a useful catch of 38 total captures; this total is the joint 3rd highest of this year visits, our 5th highest for CES 12, and with 456 total captures, our 8th highest total catch for all 12 visits. With disturbance in the garden effecting a couple of visits, it's easy to speculate this high total reflects a good breeding season locally, time and analysis of the yearly catch will tell us if this is actually the case.

CES 12 showed decent variety with 13 species caught, the highlight being a decent number of young Chiffchaf. Totals for the session were as follows:

Robin (1), Dunnock (2), Song Thrush 2 + (1), Blackbird 1 + (1), Chiffchaf 8 + (1), Reed Warbler 1 + (1), Blackcap 3, Garden Warbler 2, Long Tailed Tit 2, Blue Tit 3 + (4), Nuthatch (1),  Goldfinch 1, Bullfinch 1 + (2). Total 24 + (14).

With the CES now finished we can get the tapes on in the garden for what will hopefully be a bumper passage season of Blackcaps.
