At the end of July our ringing total for the year was 1207, the 1000th bird was ringed on 21 July (5 July in 2015, and 26 July in 2014, but not until 6 Aug in 2013, and 31 Aug in 2012).
Fieldwork for our Reed Warbler RAS has now finished, and we managed to catch 19 individuals which will count towards the calculations on adult survival (20 is the target set by BTO to produce good quality survival
estimates, so not a bad effort). These captures involved 9 visits to rb2, and 7 visits to the jetty (plus 4 additional short roost sessions there). The 19 recaptured birds were originally ringed in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 (3), 2014 (5) and 2015 (7). In additional, 14 other adults were caught (that were ringed as juveniles last year), and some 63 new adults were ringed - all of these will count next year, if they return, and if we manage to re-catch them.
